Poem: I Look Upto You

I have been given something not everyone gets the chance of
The who don't are angels in the sky looking down on us from the sky above
People we wish were here with us, people we will never forget
People we weren't ready to say goodbye to yet

Because of them I can't give up when things get too hard
Because of them I put a smile on my face even though my mind might be scarred

When I don't know what to do
All I have to look at you
And I'll know you're looking back down at me
Even though you aren't visible for me to see.

Poem: A War We'll Never Know

They’re fighting a war we’ll never know

Just wishing for them to come home

But instead they’re out there

Doing the things we’d never be able to bare

Putting their lives on the live

Not knowing what they’ll find

Some have come home with battle scars

Some have come home in funeral cars

Others have mental scars

However they come home

They will never be alone

For we should give them as much support as we can give

For without them this life we’d be unable to live

We should remember the freedom they have given everyone

We have no reason to whine or moan

Because we are still walking the earth under the sun

With the chance to see are children play and have fun

Without them we wouldn’t have this life

Or the chance to hope and dream

So if things are the way you wished they’d be

Take a minute to think of those who have lost their lives fighting for you and me

Poem: Lyra's Poem

I rewrote my poem 'Little Angel' for my Niece, Lyra and have now called it 'Lyra's Poem'.

Dear little angel in the sky
I can't believe I'm here saying goodbye
I wish someone could tell us all why
You had to be taken so young
Especially when your life hadn't even begun
I never got a chance to meet you
And you never got a chance to show us all you could do
You often come to the front of my mind
And I know these thoughts of you I'll never leave behind
Because these thoughts of you will always stay
Just like today, tomorrow and yesterday
We never got a chance to hear your cried
Or see the laughter in your eyes
You will never have the chance to grow old
But we know your heart is made of gold
Because all you will ever know is love
Especially now that you're an angel from above
We have all cried,
For you little angel, wishing that you hadn't died
But now your with the other angels in the clouds
Lyra, know that you'll always do us proud

Dear little angel in the sky
These tears that fall from my eyes will one day dry
But these thoughts of you will always stay
Just like today, tomorrow, yesterday and everyday
You often come to the front of my mind
And I know that these thoughts of you I'll never leave behind
 

I never got a chance to meet you

And you never got a chance to show us everything you could do
Be please be assured we'll always be proud
Of you little angel playing above the clouds

Star in the night sky
Your sitting so high
On the throne you should have had all along
You shouldn't have left, it feels so wrong
But we all know that you couldn't change a thing
So now we'll be thinking of you all year long
Winter, summer, autumn and spring

And together we will stay

Poem: I’m Just Sleeping

Plunging deep into my skin
I’m fighting a battle that I want to but can’t win
My eyes flicker and give you hope
Just as my body is shutting down, it can’t cope
The machines are beeping
You keep telling yourself that I’m just sleeping
My killer is running free
But on their conscience it’s me
In their mind I’m all that they can see

Just kiss my good night just one more time
Let’s forget this night and terrible crime
Let me give up this fight
I promise to light up the night
Be the brightest star in the sky
Just let me go, let me sleep, let me die

I promise to talk to you everyday
Even if my words you cannot hear
I promise one day we’ll be together again
I just don’t know when

Poem: Won’t Bring You Back

Falling so hard to the ground
It’s a wonder your soul can still be found
Gliding to the sky
Your angel wings take you so high
I have a wish, only one request
It’s probably not for the best
But it’s my only request, my only hope
The only way for me to be able to cope
All I need is to be able to see your face again
Your whole life has disappeared down the drain
All because of someone’s terrible crime
They might be behind bars doing time
But that won’t bring you back

We stand together for rememberence Sunday
I wear my poppy with pride
Thinking of our soldiers fighting side by side
They're doing and have done something we could never repay
Giving us our freedom
The ability to have an opinion, our own say
Not just for me, but for every single one of us in the United Kingdom
All you have to do is give two minutes of your day
To show you're thankful for all the soldiers who gave lost their lives

Poem: We Will Always Have Yesterday But Never Tomorrow

I wait for the night time
To see you star in the night sky
And when it's time for sunrise
I have to say yet another goodbye
At least I can stand here by your grave side
To talk about the memories we made
And the lives that you have saved
I can look back to yesterday
And I can be angry that you weren't able to stay
But I'm reminded of the future you have given all of us
Even though you won't be returning on that army bus

You have done so much for so many
So many that won't even know your name
So many who will live their lives just the same
But for me I'll be living, holding on to our,
Private dreams and past memories
Staring at your treasured star
Taken from me fighting our countries enemies

We will always have yesterday
But we will never have tomorrow
I'll be thankful for everyday
Even though I'm filled with this sorrow

What reason is good enough for this?

Would you want to live again?
If there was an end like this
Would you be the victim?
Living in a new space
I’d be happy to take your place
Will you be happy now you lay so still?

Staring at my beating heart
I’m not ready to leave
Not yet
Sharp and so powerful
Plunging deep

You were just a stranger
Eyes filled with danger
So forceful, you’ll never be remorseful

Maybe this is my end
A kitchen utensil
Taken all chance
For a happy ending
I wasn’t ready to leave
But I guess I’ll have to be

She’s the one who created me today
The one who has influenced me in everyway
Offering me so much in so many ways
Without expecting anything in return
The one I look up to each and everyday
The one I see shinning back at me
My star in the night sky
My hero by my side
Each day we understand each other even more
Learning something new each day
Our bond so strong
Nothing will break the love we share
No one can compare
For what you have done for me is indescribable
You’ll always be my hero
No matter what you do

Nothing feels right
So I follow the light
Heading up into the night
One day we will reunite
But until then I'll be alright
I'll just float around
In this new life I'm not making a sound
Where I head to
I can't tell you
But one day you will find me
Just when that is I can't guarantee

Promise to visit me at my graveside
Tell me about your day, know that in me you can confide
And I'll be there every day to help and guide
Because even though you can't see me I'll always be by your side

Poem: Dreamer Part 2

Just last night I was laying awake thinking about the dream I should have been dreaming
The people I wish I could stop from screaming
So many lose their lives
Fighting to save you and I
What about their husbands and wives
What about the children with parents in the sky
They say it has to get worse before it gets better
Would you say that to a mother reading that unforgettable letter
The world is filled with so much pain
And  yet we still moan and complain
Our lives are so easy compared to so many others
Like those without sisters and  brothers, fathers and mothers
Would you want someone to forget to donate?
If you didn't have any food on your plate?
If you were a soldier contemplating your fate?
The world is a horrible place sometimes
So many people fall on hard times
But all I can do I pray they find a miracle so that can survive
And live another day in their lives
You see they're fighting for you and me
So that we can be whatever we want to be
They're giving their lives
So spend a minute, think about those who didn't survive
Cause they're doing it for us
Not for some sort of a buzz
They are our pride
We shouldn't have anything to hide
It's time we gave a thought to all the families
And forgot about all of the controversies
Let's support them in what they need to do
Remember it's for me and you

I see where you last lay
And then I pray
If I knew what brought them to do this
But that wouldn’t change what I miss
What if I was there?
Would you still be here?
Why have you been taken from us like this?
Is it like some cruel test?
Everything passes in a haze
I’m living in a daze
All I can see is where you last lay
And then I wish
I was with you on your last day
You’ve gone and won’t be coming back
All I ask for,
Is one more day.

Dying in Africa
We say we’re starving
The lost their life, just fighting for a grain of rice
Supermarkets scatter the streets
Imagine days on your feet
All for a grain of rice
Doctors on our doorstep
Think of dragging a loved one for miles around
In the hope that help will be found
Live a day in their life
And it’ll be easy

I'm standing on this rooftop
Trying to figure out how I can stop,
People having to stop dreaming,
People having to stop believing
How can I make a difference
How can I help those suffering in silence
What about those losing a loved one
What about those who have died before their life even begun
I see so many smiles that are disappearing
So many hateful words I keep hearing
What about those fighting for everyone
What about those without anyone
Fathers, Mothers,
Sisters, Brothers
Families torn apart
What do we do for those who can't have a fresh start
How about those with people in the sky
What about those who didn't have the chance to say goodbye

What do we do when praying isn't enough
What do we do when it all gets too tough
What do we do?
