Poem: My Biggest Fear

My body is filled with the regret
Of the things my mind longs to forget
I don't want to be this person anymore
I wish I could close this one open door
My mind constantly thinks it over
If only I could find a four leaf clover
Then I could wish for all this to disappear
So that I wouldn't have to live in this constant fear
Of the times your near
Or of the nights I'm on my own
I might now be full grown
But some days I wake with the fear that I did when I was eight years old
So many times I'm overcome by the thoughts of the story I've rarely told
I try to bury it deep inside of me
So that I can become the person I've always longed to be

Poem: Lyra's Poem

I rewrote my poem 'Little Angel' for my Niece, Lyra and have now called it 'Lyra's Poem'.

Dear little angel in the sky
I can't believe I'm here saying goodbye
I wish someone could tell us all why
You had to be taken so young
Especially when your life hadn't even begun
I never got a chance to meet you
And you never got a chance to show us all you could do
You often come to the front of my mind
And I know these thoughts of you I'll never leave behind
Because these thoughts of you will always stay
Just like today, tomorrow and yesterday
We never got a chance to hear your cried
Or see the laughter in your eyes
You will never have the chance to grow old
But we know your heart is made of gold
Because all you will ever know is love
Especially now that you're an angel from above
We have all cried,
For you little angel, wishing that you hadn't died
But now your with the other angels in the clouds
Lyra, know that you'll always do us proud

To have you as my grandparents is a blessing
So now you have me here confessing,
That sometimes the things that I say may not be clean
And other times it may simply be mean
But I know right from wrong
And that I'm proud of the family to which I belong
Without you my parents wouldn't be able to offer me guidance and protection
From you they learnt to show their parental affection
So now I'm thanking you
Fall the things you have done and continue to do
Because without you,
I wouldn't be half the person I am today
So now all that is left to say -
Is a big thank you
and that I'll never forget anything that you have done or continue to do

And praise me when you can see me doing right

But most of all I am thankful for the life you have given to me

Everything that I am
Everything that I will be
Everything that I have been
I because of a mother’s love deep within
Teaching me everything
Telling me to make the most of what I have
A mother, daughter bond,
So strong
An unbreakable love
A guiding angel sent from the skies above
If ever I’m down
You always find a way to make me smile
Never have you let me down
So many memories to make me smile every once in a while
Never would there be a way
To thank you for what you have done for me
So these few words are a way to soy,
A thank you for the love you have given me,
The things you have taught me,
And the mother you are to me

Poem: We Will Always Have Yesterday But Never Tomorrow

I wait for the night time
To see you star in the night sky
And when it's time for sunrise
I have to say yet another goodbye
At least I can stand here by your grave side
To talk about the memories we made
And the lives that you have saved
I can look back to yesterday
And I can be angry that you weren't able to stay
But I'm reminded of the future you have given all of us
Even though you won't be returning on that army bus

You have done so much for so many
So many that won't even know your name
So many who will live their lives just the same
But for me I'll be living, holding on to our,
Private dreams and past memories
Staring at your treasured star
Taken from me fighting our countries enemies

We will always have yesterday
But we will never have tomorrow
I'll be thankful for everyday
Even though I'm filled with this sorrow

Tell me what you think of me
I know the truth must be bad
Especially now, after all that was said
You say to me that you’ll never forget
But when you’re with them it’s already forgotten
You tell me, honestly
But you tell them truthfully
It could have stayed like this
But I broke the pattern
I knew I couldn’t compete
With these, I’ll remember our honest memory
You remember your truthful memory
At least with us it wasn’t just one way
